The Tour du Mont Blanc Cyclo begins before dawn in Les Saisies. Riders switch on front lights around five in the morning, preceding the safety briefing and start music. The SOLO race is a one-day cycling ultra covering 330 km with 8,300 m of climbing, starting and finishing in the same Alpine resort. A HEROIC DUO format is also offered, divided into two demanding legs: 155 km to Grand-Saint-Bernard with 4,300 m of climbing, followed by 175 km back to Les Saisies with an additional 4,000 m.
The route circles Mont Blanc, passing through France, Switzerland, and Italy. The challenge lies not only in the distance but also in repeated mountain climbing across three countries. It attracts cyclists who arrive with serious preparation, as the full course demands more than standard sportive fitness. The event embraces this toughness; its start-line ritual is centered on nerves, courage, and the concept of finishing as a “hero.” Cycling press has described it as “the world’s toughest one day bike event,” fitting for a race where the basic version already entails 330 km and 8,300 m of ascent in a single effort.
