About this race
From St John's Town of Dalry onto the Southern Upland Way, this is a challenging point-to-point ultra for runners aware that beautiful does not mean gentle. Ultra Scotland 100 follows the Southern Upland Way, a way-marked Great Trail that moves through forests, valleys and high ground, with the route said to share tales of history.
Expect long, exposed sections over Benbrake, Gateshaw Rig, Lowther Hill and Minch Moor, with more runnable but still demanding trail around Daer Reservoir, Three Brethren and St Mary’s Loch before the finish in Galashiels. The participants are ultrarunners, and the buckle tradition has consequences: finish inside the cut-off and you earn one, with gold, silver or bronze depending on placing, plus hand-painted two-tone buckles and custom trophies for the fastest finishers.
