About this race
Winter X is a mid-winter trail-running event in the Meon Valley, with starts and finishes at Meon Hall near Meonstoke in Hampshire. Participants can choose between 10km, 30km, 50km, or 70km, allowing the event to serve as either a short winter trail run or a long ultra. The field is limited to 300 people across all distances, and the run adheres to UKA rules.
The 70km route consists of four out-and-back legs: North, East, West, and South. The 10km course uses a flat old railway line to West Meon and back. Longer options incorporate South Downs Way sections, including the East leg to the Sustainability Centre and the West leg towards Holden Farm via Beacon Hill. The South leg follows the old railway line towards Wickham before returning to Meon Hall. Entry fees cover timing, a marked course, marshal support, stocked checkpoints, post-race food and drink, a T-shirt, and a memento; dogs are not permitted on the course.
