About this race
The World Cup 60th Anniversary Marathons & Half Marathons are themed road races in Milton Keynes, held over multiple days in July to mark six decades of World Cup sporting history. Runners choose either the full marathon distance of 42.195 km or the half marathon distance of 21.0975 km, with every race starting at 08:30 from the Caldecotte area near Lakeside Grove, close to the A5 and a short drive from the M1.
The course is a lap race around Caldecotte Lake: the marathon uses 7½ laps, while the half marathon uses 3½. Water and toilets are available on every lap, and each event has a starter, timekeeper, race referee, and a mandatory briefing ten minutes before the start. The marathon has a hard 7-hour limit, the half marathon has a 4-hour limit, and all finishers receive a bespoke medal. The event follows 100 Marathon Club rules, appealing to repeat marathoners and runners collecting official finishes, as well as anyone who likes a controlled lake-loop course.
