Dobogókő serves as a hill-race base where the woods are the main feature, with Pilisszentkereszt, Téry Ödön, Erdősszél, and the Loránd Eötvös mountain hut providing landmarks. The 25th Dobogókői Hegyi Futóverseny follows an old-school mountain-running style, revived in 2001 based on the 1961-65 races, for runners and hikers aiming to "try their strength and endurance" in the Pilis-Visegrád Mountains.
The main objective is "touching the three highest points," meaning the course emphasizes climbing, forest terrain, and sustained focus over flat-out speed. Trails are marked with tape and signs, with the start and finish located at the mountain hut. The combination of competitive races and performance hikes creates a grounded atmosphere: participants are there to cover the distance, not for show.
