Révfülöp and Balatonboglár define the 43rd Lidl Balaton-átúszás: cross Balaton using your own power. This is a well-known open-water race, a prominent sports event linked to the lake, with the atmosphere of a large participation day rather than a small local swim. With 9000 participants registered, the two towns contribute significantly to the race's atmosphere.
The course is entirely on water, with swimmers heading from Révfülöp towards Balatonboglár. They are guided through a channel marked by sailboats and monitored by rescue teams. While most participants swim, the Balaton-áthúzás offers a unique option: crossing by SUP, presenting a different challenge for water-sport enthusiasts. Expect crowds, logistical arrangements, caps, towels, and that distinct feeling of relief at the finish line after a long swim.
