Telekom Vivicittá is a spring road-running event in Budapest, with the half marathon as its main distance. The name is tied to the city-run idea: the program also includes shorter options such as 2.4 km, 6 km, 7 km, and 10 km, plus a 2.4 km walking event. The half marathon is not only for solo runners, because teams of two or three can split the distance as a relay. The event has been held for more than forty editions, so it is part of Budapest’s regular spring running calendar rather than a one-off race.
The race is based around Margaret Island and sends runners through central Budapest, with the Danube and the city’s landmarks doing a lot of the work. The route passes the Hungarian Parliament Building, the Chain Bridge, and Fisherman’s Bastion, giving runners a course that feels more like a tour of the capital than a closed-off park loop. The shorter races make the weekend accessible to walkers, students, staff groups, casual runners, and people who are not ready for 21.1 km, while the half marathon still gives experienced runners a full road-race target.
