The Nine-arched Bridge places this run at the edge of Hortobágy National Park, on the "endless plain of the puszta." The Hortobágyi Pusztai Futás feels like a straightforward road race set against a distinctive landscape: open, flat, and exposed as only the Great Plain can be.
The surface is asphalt, not a trail, but the setting provides much of the character. Expect long views, minimal shelter, and a rhythm where pacing is more important than technical skill; the field is limited to 1,500 runners, starting at the Kilenclyukú híd.
