Badacsony and the Balaton Uplands National Park define the Tanúhegyek Trail: a trail race over volcanic witness hills, with Halászkert as the start-finish base. Depending on the route, runners tackle one, three, or five of these hills, terrain where the view offers a reward and an excuse to check your watch less often.
Expect dirt underfoot, climbing in the legs, and ridgelines where a "dazzling view opens onto Lake Balaton" and the Balaton Uplands glow in autumn colors. A dog-running event is included on the shortest route, bringing not only trail runners but also runners with four-legged companions. A nice quirk: the timing chip deposit can be donated to Üröm Animal Shelter, aligning with the day's low-key, outdoorsy atmosphere.
