The Südtiroler Erdäpfllauf is a 17.6 km evening road race in South Tyrol, from Bruneck to Sand in Taufers at the end of August. The name translates to Potato Run, with the main race beginning at 5 PM from Rathausplatz in Bruneck. The route features only 60 meters of elevation gain, making it a point-to-point valley run rather than a mountain race. Entry is restricted to athletes with valid accreditation. The event also offers a relay option and a Mini Potatorun for younger participants.
The course departs central Bruneck via Kapuzinerplatz and the Kolpinghaus area, proceeding on Dietenheimerstrasse towards Aufhofen. It then utilizes the Ahr cycle path, passing through Gais, Uttenheim, and Kematen. The route continues towards Hotel Bad Winkel, crossing the Ahr near the Cascade swimming pool before concluding in Sand in Taufers. Organizers refer to it as a “castle to castle” run at the base of the Ahrntal glaciers, establishing a distinct local character without presenting a high-altitude challenge.
