About this race
The Südtirol Drei Zinnen Alpine Run takes place in mid-September within the Sexten Dolomites, located in South Tyrol's Drei Zinnen Nature Park in Hochpustertal. The race begins at the Congress House “Haus Sexten” in Sexten. It covers 17.9 kilometers with 1,354 meters of elevation gain, presenting a genuine uphill challenge rather than a race featuring mountain scenery. Approximately 1,000 mountain runners participate annually, drawn by the demanding ascent and the finish line situated beneath the iconic Drei Zinnen peaks.
The course departs Sexten, crosses the Fischleintal valley, and proceeds past the Fischleinbodenhütte and Talschlusshütte. It then transitions into switchbacks leading towards the Zsigmondyhütte. From this point, the ascent continues towards the Büllelejochhütte, reaching an altitude of 2,575 meters. The finish is positioned above the Bödenseen lakes, close to the base of the Drei Zinnen. While results are broadcast live, the primary appeal lies in its concise, steep Alpine route concluding high in the Dolomites, with the distinctive rock formations in clear sight.
