About this race
Pantani Week: Memorial Marco Pantani is a cycling event in Cesenatico, Marco Pantani’s home city, held in September. It combines amateur rides with the professional Memorial Pantani race, which concludes in Cesenatico and acts as a pre-world-championship test. This is not a casual seaside ride: the week is structured around riding challenging roads connected to Pantani’s training regimen.
The routes follow the roads and climbs where Pantani trained after departing the Adriatic coast. The notable climb is Monte Carpegna, called the Pirate’s climb to the sky, measuring 6.5 km at a 10.5% average gradient with sections reaching 18.5%. Events can extend to 145 km, featuring up to 2,150 m of elevation gain, and the week also directs participants to Cesenatico’s Pantani Museum and the bronze statue commemorating him in the town.
