Brooks Super Maratona dell'Etna 2026

The Brooks Super Maratona dell'Etna begins at Marina di Cottone beach and ascends to 3,000 meters, concluding just below Mount Etna's summit craters. This 43 km vertical marathon, held in June, presents the unique challenge of running from sea level to the upper reaches of Europe's highest active volcano. The course crosses Fiumefreddo di Sicilia, Piedimonte Etneo, and Linguaglossa before taking the Mareneve road towards Piano Provenzana. From there, a dirt path marks the final ascent. The event originated as a Guinness World Record attempt and is promoted by its organizers as the world's largest uphill running race. An additional 14.5 km off-road race starts at 1,800 meters, featuring a steep climb and a descent over volcanic sand.
