The La Thuile Trail - Memorial Edo Camardella begins in Piazza Cavalieri di Vittorio Veneto in La Thuile, a village in Italy’s Valle d’Aosta, and takes place in July. It is a trail-running series, not a single race, offering distances from a 10 km Short Trail with 650 m of elevation gain to a 70 km Ultra with approximately 4,000 m of ascent. The intermediate distances are also challenging: the 25 km race involves about 1,500 m of climbing, and the mountain marathon covers around 42-43 km with roughly 2,500 m of elevation gain.
The courses traverse high mountain trails near La Thuile. The short race reaches an altitude of 2,000 m, while the longer races venture further into alpine territory. The 25 km course, the original race, passes below the Ruitor glacier and by Rifugio Deffeyes. The marathon includes significant climbs and offers views towards Mont Blanc, whereas the Ultra is designed for participants seeking a full day on remote trails. Approximately 1,000 runners participate, the event holds UTMB Index status, and the competition is followed by live music and DJ sets extending into the evening.
