The IV Stramilano SottoZero is a 10 km road race in Milan, held in late November. It serves as the winter edition of the Stramilano, intended for runners seeking a direct city race, distinct from trail or stadium formats, offering a competitive 10 km course. Running: Locals run Milan like a dense grid with good escape lines. The 2-mile loop around the castle and park works for quick runs, and Giardini Pubblici Indro Montanelli works for steady laps in Porta Venezia. Season: Spring and autumn are Milan’s cleanest training blocks, with March-May and September-November giving runners and riders the best rhythm. Locals use those months for intervals in Sempione, Z2 on the Martesana, and longer rides toward the Adda river or Lake Como. Summer gets hot and humid, and peak temperatures climb above 30°C, so early starts matter. Nighttime often stays muggy because humidity hangs around the city. Winter turns cold, and daily averages can fall below freezing. The city gets about seven days of snow per year, so runners stay on park loops and riders keep canal spins steady unless the roads are clear.
