About this race
Montegrosso Pian Latte Trail Running is a small, non-competitive mountain trail run held in Montegrosso Pian Latte, a village in the Ligurian Alps. Organized by the Pro Loco of Montegrosso Pian Latte APS, with support from the municipality and the Regional Natural Park of the Ligurian Alps, it is listed on the GenovaRunners Ligurian running calendar. This race is a vertical challenge, not a long-distance trail event, covering approximately 5 km with over 740 meters of elevation gain.
The course begins below the village in the Ferrera area, ascending through Montegrosso Pian Latte and then entering the local chestnut groves. Participants will follow the Sentiero della Transumanza, a path unfamiliar to all in the source account, concluding at Case Fascei. The field was small, with twenty athletes in the vertical race. Families and a small group of walkers also ascended to the finish via a simpler walking path. The event highlights local heritage preservation efforts, with the Pro Loco, local businesses, and the municipal administration utilizing the route to showcase the landscape they aim to protect.
