River Run Valtellina begins and ends at Parco Adda Mallero Bartesaghi in Sondrio, offering four race choices along the Sentiero Valtellina. The schedule includes a 2 km Family Run for children, a 10 km race with a non-competitive choice, a 21 km half marathon, and a 30 km race. The 10 km and half marathon are listed on the national FIDAL calendar, while the 30 km is a regional FIDAL competition. The event takes place on a Sunday in late September, with staggered starts from mid-morning and the children’s run scheduled after the main races have begun.
The courses follow flat paths alongside the Adda river, utilizing the Sentiero Valtellina and returning to the same park, meaning runners do not face a point-to-point transfer at the finish. The event attracts over 1,000 participants and is designed for a broad range of runners: licensed athletes, casual participants, families, and children are all welcome. The race has a clear purpose: it generates support for children treated at Centro Maria Letizia Verga, via an association working against leukemia and lymphoma in young people. Following the races, the park transforms into a fundraising festival with food stalls and music, and essential services such as bag drop, showers, parking, and transport are provided.
