San Fermo Trail is an 18 km mountain running race held in Borno, located on the Altopiano del Sole in Valle Camonica. This mid-summer event takes place on the Borno plateau, featuring a true off-road loop rather than a road race with some trail sections. The main course includes 1,261 meters of elevation gain, requiring uphill strength, confident descending, and the patience to maintain a demanding mountain pace.
The race begins in Borno’s town square at 883 meters elevation and ascends towards the San Fermo refuge at 1,868 meters. From the refuge, participants navigate the Sentiero Alto, a technical high-altitude path, before the loop returns them through the plateau’s mountain landscape. The Evolution Team, a group of runners and friends directed by Valentina Pezzotti, organizes the event alongside Fashion & Mountain. The broader weekend program features a Yankee Run, a children’s family run, and community activities like talks with mountaineers. The event attracts a substantial field for a local mountain race, with hundreds of competitive runners and numerous children participating in the associated events.
