About this race
Mt. Kumotori anchors the route, which starts in Ome and Okutama and ascends through mountain trails toward the area's highest peak. It offers the character of a true long mountain race: remote, wooded, and defined by its terrain. The core message is the "beauty of the mountains unimaginable from the big city."
Water and old forests will shape the day alongside the climbing. The course includes the "headwaters of the Tamagawa River," waterfalls, streams, lakes, evidence of "ancient mountain beliefs," and "primeval beech forests," suggesting a race with constantly changing footing. A conservation theme is also present, as the event supports efforts to "preserve the excellent natural environment" around Ome and Okutama.
