About this race
The UP RUN Imperial Palace Marathon circles the Imperial Palace in central Tokyo, finishing at the Clock Tower in Kōkyo Gaien, Chiyoda-ku. It is a timed morning event, allowing participants to officially record their run times. The event proceeds regardless of weather conditions. The program includes more than just a marathon: parent-child 5 km, solo 5 km, 10 km, 15 km, 20 km, and a 20 km relay.
The course follows the standard Imperial Palace running loop, a well-liked route in the city center, a short walk from Sakuradamon Station. The event accommodates various participants: those aiming for records, runners assessing their training, newcomers, families, children, and seniors. UP RUN’s Executive Committee organizes the race, and this marks the 237th event in the Imperial Palace series.
