About this race
Pride Run Amsterdam is a running event held during Pride week in Amsterdam Oost. It offers 5 km, 10 km, and 15 km races, along with a 5 km walk. While part of Amsterdam Pride and the Queer Amsterdam sports program, it welcomes all who support equality, anti-discrimination, and international solidarity. Participants are encouraged to wear colorful attire, making the event resemble a moving Pride crowd rather than a typical road race. A business run is also available for teams of three to six people in the 5 km or 10 km distances.
The start and finish lines are located at Café Restaurant Polder in Science Park. The course winds through Flevopark and alongside the Amsterdam-Rijnkanaal. Rainbow Athletics Amsterdam, previously known as Dutch Gay & Lesbian Athletics, has strong ties to the race. Both the club and the run originated from preparations for the Amsterdam Gay Games. The former event chair, Hans de Visser, characterized it as a competition for LHBTI runners and other running enthusiasts, where the sport provides a casual avenue to highlight commonalities.
