Fiets4Daagse De Peel is a four-day recreational cycling event in the Peel region, with Meijel serving as one of three start locations. Situated between Venlo, Weert, Roermond, Eindhoven, and Deurne, Meijel is a convenient base for participants from Limburg and Brabant. The routes are clearly marked and detailed in writing, allowing cyclists to complete the planned courses at their own pace without competitive timing.
The Meijel routes are designed to minimize travel on busy roads, emphasizing relaxed cycling through the Peel's rural landscape. Points of interest along the way include De Groote Peel National Park, Leudal, Scherliet in Grashoek, the canal district, Het Molentje, Widdonk with its drainage canal, and the Limburg Maas valleys. Meijel itself contributes local distinctiveness: its name originates from an ancient crossroads in the marshy Peel, it possesses a unique dialect, a population of approximately 6,500, and over a hundred local organizations. The Open Air Museum Eynderhoof, featuring a recreated Peel village depicting historical rural life, is also nearby.
