About this race
Haarlerbergtrail is a small trail run starting at Veldkampsweide 1 in Haarle, Overijssel. Held in late autumn, it features four distances: 11 km, 16 km, 22 km, and 30 km. With a runner limit of 350, it maintains the feel of a local off-road event rather than a large competition. The organization is affiliated with the Atletiekunie.
The course crosses Sallandse Heuvelrug National Park via narrow paths, climbs, sandy stretches, fields, dirt roads, forest tracks, and heathland trails. It is almost entirely unpaved, with sufficient elevation changes to provide a genuine trail running challenge even on the shorter routes. Experienced participants opt for the longer distances, while newcomers might select the 11 km or 16 km for a more demanding introduction to trail running. The event originated as a trail run preceding the Haarlerbergloop; runner input prompted its establishment as a standalone fixture. A section of the course utilizes paths normally closed from mid-March to mid-July because of the breeding season, granting participants access to restricted areas.
