About this race
The Halve Marathon Lauwersoog-Ulrum is a summer road race in Groningen, in the north of the Netherlands. The main 21.1 km race begins at the harbor in Lauwersoog, near restaurant Schierzicht. The event also includes 10 km and 4 mile races, allowing runners to participate on the same day without committing to the full half marathon distance. Participant entries are limited to 1,000, and the half marathon has a 2.5-hour time limit, with eight water stations provided along the route.
The half marathon course departs the harbor area, proceeds through Lauwersmeer National Park and the Wadden area, then moves toward Zoutkamp, Niekerk, and concludes in Ulrum. A specific feature of the course is passing the shrimp processing factory in Zoutkamp. The shorter 10 km and 4 mile races share the same start and finish points, whereas the half marathon is a point-to-point run from the coast inland to the village. Race day amenities include changing rooms, showers, parking, a guarded cloakroom, first aid, and AEDs.
