Halve Marathon Vlieland

Runners begin at the entrance of campsite Stortemelk on Vlieland, then run a half marathon across one of the Dutch Wadden Islands. The main race covers 21.0975 km, with 10 km and 5.5 km options available on the same day. The Ministortelon for children takes place before the longer races. This is a compact island race, not a large-city road event, and entries are limited to 1,000 participants. The course includes paved roads, shell paths, forest, dunes, and beach, allowing runners to see a significant portion of Vlieland rather than a repetitive flat loop. The race originated as an event for guests at camping Stortemelk but now attracts runners from all over the country. Volunteers and spectators support participants along the route. Children run approximately 2 km on the Stortemelk grounds, finishing near the snack bar to receive an ice cream and a medal. Following the awards ceremony on the Bolder terrace, the day features live music by Casanova's and dancing in the Kleine Zaal.
