Herfstloop Twente

Herfstloop Twente starts and finishes at AC TION on Geessinkweg in Enschede, with runners heading out from the club grounds toward the Rutbeek recreation lake. It is an autumn recreational race offering five distances: a 1 km Kidsrun, 2 English Miles (3.2 km), 5 English Miles (8 km), 10 English Miles (16 km), and a half marathon. The 5 English Mile race is open from age 13, and the event is capped at 1,000 participants. The route uses a mix of paved and semi-paved roads through the rural edge of Enschede, passing meadows and nature reserves before returning to the AC TION track. About 70% of the course is paved, with a smaller unpaved section on forest path. Atletiek Club TION has organized the race since 1976, making it one of the oldest still-running events in the east of the Netherlands. Runners can order a medal for a small extra fee, and a start number also includes a free coffee or tea.
