About this race
Highland Run - Heuvelland sends runners into the mud on the Rodeberg in Heuvelland, West Flanders, in late April. It is an obstacle and fun run, not a timed road race, with adult options of 6 km and 12 km, plus shorter Family and Kids runs. The adult routes are open from age 16, while the family and children’s races start from age 6.
The course uses the wooded Kosmossite and Hellegatbos area, with climbs, natural barriers, mud, and built obstacles. The 6 km route has 10 obstacles, the 12 km route has 20, the Family Run is about 4 km with 10 obstacles, and the Kids Run is about 2 km with around 5. Starts are organized by color-coded waves; runners can drop into a later wave but not an earlier one. There is no official timing, though Strava segments are used, fitting the event’s focus on team effort, mess, and finishing rather than chasing a clock. The Highland Village, side entertainment, guarded baggage, warm showers, aid stations, finisher medals, finish-line drinks and cookies, and free photo booth all contribute to a full day out.
