Hunebed Highway Classic

The Hunebed Highway Classic is an August mountain bike tour starting from Valthe in Drenthe, in the north of the Netherlands. Stichting Goede Doelen Valthe organizes it, along with other cycling, MTB, and walking tours in the area. It is a ride-through-nature event, with participants moving at their own pace. The route runs through Drenthe’s varied landscapes, including Drentsche Aa National Park and the Valtherbos. Riders pass the hunebedden, the prehistoric dolmens that sit in the forest near Valthe. The event used to follow a Groningen-Valthe-Groningen route, but after ten years the organizers changed the course.
