Approximately one-third of the Marathon Zeeuws-Vlaanderen route crosses unpaved paths through or alongside natural landscapes. This spring marathon takes place in the southern part of Zeeland, close to the Dutch-Flemish border. The primary marathon connects the port city of Terneuzen with the historic fortified town of Hulst. The event weekend also features a relay marathon, city runs, a children's run, and a walking marathon.
The course incorporates forest trails, village streets, paths alongside creeks, and open water vistas of the Westerschelde. Participants will run past landmarks such as Hulst's historic ramparts, the Clingse and Steense forests, the Staats-Spaanse linies area, the Otheense kreek in Terneuzen, and various small villages and hamlets in Zeeuws-Vlaanderen. Local broadcaster Omroep Zeeland provides coverage from start to finish. Standard registration includes timing, aid stations, a medal, a sports shirt, and a personalized bib for early registrants.
