About this race

Route door de Oost, also known as the Oost-Europa-Rally or OER, is an eight-day motorcycle rally across Eastern Europe. It focuses on roadbook riding, navigation, and long off-road days, not flat-out racing. Initially intended for nearly any motorcycle type, from large all-road bikes to light enduros, the event now best suits enduro motorcycles and sporty quads. A capable rider can still participate on a larger adventure bike, but the route can become challenging quickly if rain, heat, mud, or snow alters the terrain. Riders stay in hotels, with the support camp relocating between city stops and remote mountain areas. A mechanic accompanies the group to assist with keeping motorcycles operational. The route may extend from the Polish Tatra Mountains through Slovakia, Hungary, and Romania, with segments near the Romanian and Ukrainian borders. The riding incorporates grassland, extensive Hungarian sand tracks, rugged Romanian mountain passes, muddy forest roads affected by logging, stone tracks, gravel roads, and brief asphalt connections. One edition spanned almost 2,500 km over eight days. The appeal extends beyond distance, featuring complex navigation sections, challenging days with slippery conditions due to thunderstorms, border crossings, mountain ridges, and a rest-day hill climb for additional points. The finish has featured the wine regions near Tokaj, where participants were offered Tokaj wine, reflecting the event's character: serious enough to test navigation and resolve, yet relaxed for those seeking adventure over pure competition.
