About this race
The Spaarnwoude Park Ultra begins near the Peddelpoel playground and recreational lake in Velsen-Zuid, with events scheduled for June and December. This is a small looped ultra run with a limit of 150 participants, organized by the running group Loopmeesters and RunX Haarlem. The format is straightforward: runners have 30 minutes to complete each loop, and each loop finished within the time limit allows them to start the subsequent one. The event can run from 09:00 until 21:00 at the latest, meaning the challenge lies not in a set distance but in how long a runner can continue returning to the start line.
The standard loop covers 3.6 km through the Spaarnwoude parkland. The June edition also features a 4.6 km loop, both adhering to the same 30-minute time limit per loop. Runners may select their loop distance on the day of the event, round by round, introducing a strategic element: the shorter option provides more recovery time, while the longer one increases distance more rapidly. The start area is located on the grass by the lake, with nearby toilets and picnic tables. Free parking is available by navigating to “peddelpoel.”
