About this race
The Springendalloop begins and ends at Hoeve het Springendal in Hezingen, bordering the Springendal nature reserve close to Ootmarsum. This is a modest Dutch running and walking event offering 5, 10, and 15 kilometre running courses, an 8 kilometre walking course, and options for sport walking, cross-country running, training runs, and a fun run. The routes are predominantly unpaved, with an entry cap of 600 participants because of the reserve being a sensitive area rather than a large urban race location.
OLC'93 coordinates the event, which prioritizes the experience over competitive timing. Official times are not recorded by the organizers; a clock is present, but runners focused on their speed must time themselves. The 15 kilometre course crosses Springendal, and new routes have been introduced to offer variety for returning participants. The event's motto is “Dat is en blijft genieten,” translating to roughly “That is, and remains, enjoyment,” and the day concludes with a distinctly local tradition: complimentary coffee and cake post-race.
