Trail du Hérou

Trail du Hérou is a September trail-running event based in Nadrin, in the Houffalize area of the Belgian Ardennes. It offers six race options, from the 7.5 km Start to Hérou with 320 m of climbing to a 60 km route with 2700 m of climbing, catering to both newer trail runners and those seeking a long mountain-style effort. The shorter named routes include Petit Hérou at about 16.4 km, Moyen Hérou at 25.3 km, Grand Hérout at 33 km, and the Hérou Marathon Trail at 42.9 km. Across the programme, the climbing is substantial: even the mid-distance races feature over 1000 m of elevation gain. Approximately 1800 runners are anticipated, and finishers participate in the ritual of ringing the event’s bell at the finish line. The race, now in its second decade, is centered on the rugged Hérou area, contrasting with flat, fast road racing.
