About this race
The Twenterandrun begins and ends in the center of Vriezenveen, a village in Overijssel in the eastern Netherlands, with Manitobaplein serving as the primary focus. This is an annual evening road race offering 5 km and 10 km distances, designed for club runners aiming for a personal best and local recreational runners seeking a straightforward, welcoming race nearby.
The primary route is a concise loop of approximately 2.5 km. Consequently, 5 km participants run two laps, and 10 km participants run four. This repeated loop allows spectators to easily follow the race. The village setting contributes music, roadside encouragement, and a distinct finish atmosphere, contrasting with a subdued run through town. Shorter routes are available for Bambino runners, who turn around at Tilanusplein, and G-lopers, who run from Kerkstraat towards Tilanusplein and back. Stichting Sportpromotie Twenterand organizes the event, collaborates with local volunteers, assists running groups, and provides introductory training plans for newcomers.
