About this race
The Veluwse TrailRun is a September trail race held in Ermelo, located on the Veluwe in Gelderland. Its main race base is an outdoor Traildorp situated in the woods on Leuvenumseweg. Participants can select from six distances: 10, 15, 22, 30, 42, and 60 kilometers, with options for relay teams. Stichting VeluweSportief, affiliated with the Atletiekunie, organizes the event. Registration occurs in set periods, with prices increasing after the early entry phase, and no on-site registration is available.
The routes traverse single tracks across the Ermelosche Heide and through the forests surrounding Ermelo, including the Speulderbos, which is the largest continuous forest area on the Veluwe. Most distances commence and conclude at the Traildorp. However, the 42 km Highland MARATHON Trail begins with a 1.2 km neutralized roll-out behind a pace car from the Gemeentehuis, passing through Ermelo's center before returning to the woods for the finish. While the program incorporates some paved sections, the primary focus is on trail running through heathland and forests. The event also designates a charity partner, with Duchenne muscular dystrophy identified as the cause for the current edition.
