About this race
Barfrostløpet is a late-season running event in Tanabru, starting and finishing outside Tanabru kindergarten, across from the health centre. The main distances are 1.5 km, 5 km, and 10 km, plus a 4.3 km Run4Fun class for those seeking a non-competitive run. The 1.5 km is open from age four, the 5 km from age ten, the 10 km from age twelve, and the Run4Fun from age six. Upper age classes extend to 85+.
The marked routes follow paths in Tanabru town centre. The 10 km runners complete two laps, while Run4Fun uses the 5 km route, omitting the final residential loop. The race concludes the local running season. One edition saw 80 starters, with 47 in the 10 km. Prizes are locally sourced: all participants received borscht soup with bread, coffee, and tea. Top finishers in the 5 km and 10 km received reindeer meat, fruit baskets, or cafe gift cards. The course may require sanding in cold weather, with local assistance from “TraktorTerje” helping runners maintain their footing.
