Brandefant Triathlon 2026

The Brandefant Triathlon is a 55-kilometer amateur event held on Imingfjell, near Uvdal, at the base of Hardangervidda in Norway. The race begins at a high elevation: Imingfjell is approximately 1100 meters above sea level, with the swim taking place in Sønstevatn, a mountain lake situated at 1060 meters. It is designed for athletes seeking a demanding mountain challenge, featuring over 1000 meters of elevation gain throughout the course. The event commences with a 1500-meter swim, followed by a 40-kilometer cycle on gravel roads through the Imingdalen region. The final leg is a 12.5-kilometer run on gravel roads and trails. This run ascends to a maximum of 1370 meters and concludes atop Glopphovda at 1185 meters, near Imingfjell Turistheim. Organizers refer to it as Norway's most difficult amateur race. They also provide a support relay option for groups wishing to share the effort and make triathlon more accessible. Spectators are welcome along the course, and the day concludes with a banquet at Imingfjell Turistheim, featuring live music and a Brandefant buffet.
