About this race
Gloppen Halvmaraton is a small Norwegian race held in Sandane, offering a half marathon and a 10K. The half marathon begins in the afternoon at the Sandane sports field, with an earlier start available for those needing extra time. Fjellhug/Vereide IL organizes the event, and the half marathon also functions as the Sogn og Fjordane FIK district championship.
The route is an out-and-back course on asphalt. It crosses Sandane center and follows FV615 along the southern edge of Gloppefjorden, with a turnaround point approximately 3 km past Sande, before returning along the same path. The course is notably flat for Norway, ranging from 2 to 18 meters above sea level and featuring only 16 meters of total elevation change. Participants will see farms and small homes lining the fjord. The 10K is open to wheelchair athletes. The race attracts a modest number of participants, around 230 total starters for both distances. Winning times for the half marathon are typically near 1:10.
