About this race
Haugesund Triatlon is a sea-swim triathlon held at Maersk Training Haugesund on a Sunday in August. It features a Supersprint for youth and recruits: a 375 m swim, 10 km bike, and 2.5 km run. An adult Sprint includes a 750 m swim, 20 km bike, and 5 km run. The day begins with number pickup, followed by the opening of the transition area. The Sprint race starts first, with the Supersprint beginning shortly after.
The swim takes place in the sea west of the training area, navigating around small islands and skerries, which typically offers calmer conditions than the open North Sea. Water temperature is anticipated to be around 17°C, making a wetsuit advisable and likely mandatory. The bike course is a rolling loop on local roads and paths, including Haglandsvegen, Stølevegen, Viksevegen, and FV47. Supersprint competitors complete one lap, while Sprint racers do three laps and are responsible for counting them. This is non-draft racing, requiring 10 m separation between cyclists. The run is an out-and-back course within the training area, featuring some sustained climbs.
