About this race
Hinnaløpet begins and ends at Hinna Idrettspark in Hinna, Rogaland, sending runners into Sørmarka on an autumn afternoon. The race has taken place annually since 1981, offering two straightforward options: the main 9.3 km Hinnaløpet course or the shorter Hinnaberget 5980, just under 6 km. Both are demanding loops, not flat road sprints, with the main route primarily gravel, supplemented by asphalt.
The 9.3 km course proceeds from Hinna Stadion into Sørmarka, featuring the ascent toward Ullandhaug. Hinnaberget 5980 follows the same initial and final sections but omits that climb; its first and last kilometer were modified to lessen traffic impact. The event maintains a notable rate of returning participants, with awards presented every 5 years, including medals, plaques, and art for those competing across multiple editions. New participants are also recognized, with debutant medals now a tradition.
