About this race

Kvitfjell Opp uses the Olympic downhill ski course at Kvitfjell, sending runners uphill from the bottom lift station to the alpine start area near the top. This summer mountain race covers 3.2 kilometers with 838 meters of climbing on what organizers describe as Northern Europe’s steepest ski slope. The start is at the bottom of the Olympic Express lift, the race begins at 5:00 PM, and the finish is approximately 100 meters behind the downhill skiing start hut. The route largely mirrors the Olympic and World Cup downhill course, adapted for summer terrain. After a gradual start of a few hundred meters, runners encounter Mæhlumshenget and the steep section known as Løftet. They then ascend toward the Tommy Moe curve before reaching Bøygen, a significant 180-degree turn. Recent results indicate a competitive field of mountain runners, with athletes from clubs like Bergen CK and Lillehammer IF leading. The quickest men complete the course in just over thirty minutes.
