About this race
Kystløpet is an 11 km community road race in Egersund, Rogaland, run from the old railway path area on Gamle Eigerøyveien. The race has been held since 2007 and is organized by EIK friidrett, the local athletics club. It is a small local event rather than a large city race, with around 50 runners pre-registered in the reported field and more expected closer to race day.
The route uses Den gamle jærbanen, the old Jæren railway line, starting and finishing on Gamle Eigerøyveien and turning around at Maurholen. The race also has a clear charity tradition: its surplus goes to a local cause. In the reported edition, most of the money was set aside for Egersund and Dalane Red Cross, with some funds also supporting refugee participation in athletics and training clothes.
