Mærraskallen Terrengløp

Mærraskallen Terrengløp begins at the gravel field in Fossum, Norway, offering families multiple running options on race day. Fossum I.F. hosts this trail event, which includes adult and children’s races: the 15.4 km Mærraskallen, the 4.2 km Mærraskallen Kort, the 1.5 km Mærraskallen Mini, and a short children’s race of two laps at the Fossum IF arena. Open classes without timing are available, while the 4.2 km and 15.4 km races utilize timing chips and mass starts. The long course presents a challenge: the initial two-thirds ascend steeply on trails, with the final third descending mostly on gravel roads. Some trail sections are unmarked, leading organizers to suggest younger participants run with an adult. Children up to 12 can also run Mærradilten, a 5 km route on Fossum’s lit trail. The race holds a long local tradition, with over fifty editions held, and past participation has varied from about 180 finishers to more than 250 during peak turnout.
