About this race
The main Marka Rundt race begins at Fjellseter in Trondheim, sending skiers into Bymarka, the extensive forest and ski area above the city. This February cross-country ski race series offers 40 km and 20 km competition distances, alongside a 20 km student race and untimed Trim classes over 20 km or 40 km.
The 40 km race also serves as a seeding race for Vasaloppet and Birken, attracting skiers aiming for a strong result and those using it as a winter objective. The event is in its 80th edition, with recent years seeing a few hundred finishers. Hank Sport, a long-time sponsor, provides waxing advice from Bymarka prior to race day, and organizers monitor snow conditions closely, posting course updates if fresh snow is less than ideal.
