About this race
Moaløpet is an autumn trail race held in Bokemoa, a wooded area within Stokke, Vestfold and Telemark. The primary 5 km race is for participants over 16 years old. A recreational class covers the same distance, open to anyone preferring to run without competing for a position. Younger participants have shorter courses tailored to their age: 500 m for the youngest children, followed by 1.2 km, 2.4 km, or 3.2 km as they advance through the age groups.
The 5 km course incorporates the lower loop and two larger loops. The relay consists of 3 x 1.2 km legs for women’s, men’s, and mixed teams. The event attracts competitive club runners, local families, children participating in their initial races, and groups of friends racing each other or their previous year’s times. Recent results indicate a high level of competition: the men’s 5 km record is 14:56, achieved in a one-second difference, and the women’s winning time is 18:44. The race has been held for over forty editions, and the youth categories often see substantial participation, with over 100 children in the youngest classes.
