The Rubman Urban Island Hopping Swimrun is a swimrun race in Stavanger, Norway, offering short and long distance options. It combines running and open-water swimming. The long course covers 46 km around Stavanger, Sandnes, and nearby islands. It begins from a transit stop in the city area and, in some editions, from Hundvag island. Participants keep their shoes on for swims, carry mandatory equipment from start to finish, and transition directly from urban terrain to fjord crossings and rougher ground.
The course's terrain varies continuously: gravel paths, single tracks, hills, urban sections, and swims in cold water. An early segment involves a 1 km run, followed by an 1,800 meter crossing of Gandsfjorden, then hot soup before a 300 meter vertical climb known as “bubblebutt hill.” Following this climb, participants run approximately 5 km to Hommersak sentrum and an energy station. The event targets outdoor enthusiasts, not solely swimmers or runners. The shared challenge of swimming in shoes, climbing after a long fjord crossing, and moving between islands creates a practical, resilient atmosphere.
