About this race
Søgne Morothon is an annual trail race in Søgne, starting and finishing in the town center. Participants can choose between Langmoro (20 km), Kortmoro (10 km), and a children's race, all run on marked trails. Søgne Friidrett and Søgne Skiklubb jointly organize the event, which attracts children, local fitness runners, club runners, and more competitive athletes. The race has been held since 1991 and has seen a maximum of approximately 400 participants.
The earlier format was considerably more rugged: runners were transported by bus into the forest to an unmarked course and had to navigate their own way back, making route selection a key element of the challenge. The race also featured a social aspect, with huts along the course offering "strength drinks." Some runners have participated in every edition since its inception and continue to compete. Morothon is locally regarded as one of Sørlandet’s most demanding trail races based on winners' times, yet its core ethos emphasizes that finishing is what counts and participation is paramount.
