Sentrumsgateløpet starts from Rådhusplassen in Kongsvinger, with road races over 5 km and 10 km and a children’s race earlier in the day in Byparken. The children run first at 11:00, the 5 km starts at 12:00, and the 10 km follows at 13:00. It is a paved-road event built for a wide local field: competitive runners, recreational runners, people running for the town, and children all have a place on the program.
The route runs along the Glomma river and crosses both of Kongsvinger’s city bridges, so runners get a compact town-course rather than a closed-off stadium-style race. The children’s race uses several short distances, with the longest up to 500 meters, and every child receives a medal. Foreningen Byen Vår organizes the race together with Kongsvinger Stedsutvalg. The sharp end is quick too: the course records are 30:40 for men and 35:43 for women over 10 km, and 15:14 for men and 17:49 for women over 5 km.
