Sunnfjord Ultra is a 53 km point-to-point ultra in western Norway, running from Førde to Rivedal in Askvoll municipality. Runners start outside Spenst in Førde and finish at Rivedal Galleri, with nearly 2,000 meters of climbing between the two. The race mixes 20 km of asphalt, 19 km of off-road terrain, and 14 km of gravel road, making it a rural crossing with constant surface changes.
The route demands climbing legs and patience on mixed ground. One edition was completed by 36 runners in record heat. Lars Øvrebø is one of the race’s standout names, reaching the finish first for a third time and winning in 5:33:04, with clubmate Gisle Kirkeeide finishing less than a minute behind. Trym Høyvik from Høyanger Løpeklubb came through close after them, and Helene Hauge won the women’s race by a larger margin.
