About this race
Blue Lake provides the setting: water at your side, trail beneath your feet, as the day transitions to night. The Blue Lake 24hr Challenge is a self-supported endurance running event. The approach is direct, focusing on what you can sustain when the initial miles have passed. The course is largely flat, with a moderate elevation gain that accumulates over the laps as they lose their novelty.
You complete repeated clockwise laps of the circuit around the lake, with options ranging from shorter distances to the full overnight effort. Participants include ultramarathoners, trail runners, endurance athletes, those new to endurance events, casual runners, families, and individuals familiar with the mental effects of ultra-distance. The objective is to "test pacing, fatigue management, and overnight running," a straightforward description that carries significant weight at 4am.
